Buildings as systems

Brendan Leadbeater Architecture Studio
BLAST is the current name for a body of practice Brendan Leadbeater has been building since 2009. The name evolved; the authorship, responsibility, and accumulated judgment continued.

Principal-led, in practical terms
Brendan remains closely involved from the first questions and early studies through design, coordination, presentations, and the technical decisions that carry an idea toward construction.
His experience includes industrial and logistics buildings, commercial work, adaptive reuse, residential projects, feasibility and due diligence, and planning-board testimony. BLAST was formed to bring those strands together in one studio: strategic when a project is uncertain, architectural when its possibilities become clear, and attentive throughout.
See how BLAST can helpA way of working
Useful architecture holds more than one kind of truth at once. It must work operationally, survive review, be buildable, and still produce a place worth occupying.
Access, loading, circulation, structure, envelope, code, and operations are considered together—not as separate problems to reconcile later.
Light, proportion, material, sequence, and atmosphere matter because performance is only part of how a building serves the people who use it.
Feasibility and due diligence can expose the consequential questions early, while there is still time to change course intelligently.
Planning-board testimony and project presentations require the same discipline as design: understand the issue, show the evidence, and explain the proposal plainly.

Professional record
BLAST carries forward a professional path that began in 2009. That continuity matters: project judgment is built through years of seeing how design decisions meet approvals, construction, existing conditions, operations, and use.
A project can begin with an unresolved question
Share the property, intended use, known constraints, and the decision you need to make. BLAST can help define the useful next step before assuming the full scope.
